Working Together to Improve School Health

Located more than 20 km from the Km 0 Landmark in Ha Giang, Yen Dinh is an area with difficult road conditions. Despite these challenges, on October 6–7, 2026, a team of doctors and healthcare professionals traveled to Yen Dinh Preschool, Primary School, and Lower Secondary School in Ngoc Duong Commune, Tuyen Quang Province, to provide free medical examinations and health screenings for 780 students.

The program was jointly organized by Ngoc Duong Commune People's Committee, Phenikaa University Hospital, Duc Minh General Hospital, and Dr. Hang Nam Dental Clinic. It provided students with free medical examinations and health consultations directly at their schools, helping to identify potential health problems early and support children's health and well-being.

Activities of the Program
During the two-day program, students received medical examinations and health screenings in several areas:

  • General Health Examinations: Assessing students' overall health, identifying possible health problems, and providing appropriate medical advice.
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Examinations and Endoscopy: Checking for common ENT conditions in children, especially those that may affect their daily activities and learning.
  • Dental and Oral Health Examinations: Checking oral health and providing advice on dental hygiene and the prevention of dental diseases.
  • Congenital Heart Disease Screening: Conducting cardiac examinations, including electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiography when necessary, to identify possible heart abnormalities that may require further evaluation or follow-up.

All examinations were conducted at the schools, making healthcare services more accessible to students. The program also helped parents and teachers better understand the children's health conditions.

The Importance of School Health
Regular health check-ups play an important role in supporting children's physical and mental development, especially during preschool and school years.

Through early screening, potential health problems can be identified, allowing parents to arrange further medical examinations, follow-up care, or treatment when necessary.

In addition to medical examinations, doctors and healthcare professionals provided students with basic health education, including personal hygiene, disease prevention, and healthy daily habits. These activities encouraged children to take better care of their health from an early age.

Sharing Care and Compassion with the Community
Beyond providing free medical examinations and health screenings, the program reflected a shared commitment to children's health by healthcare organizations, local authorities, and schools.

Every medical examination is an opportunity to identify potential health problems early, and every consultation helps parents better understand how to care for their children.

Through meaningful community healthcare activities, Duc Minh General Hospital continues to promote the spirit of compassion and social responsibility, working to bring essential healthcare services closer to local communities, especially children in areas where access to medical care remains challenging.
